If
you are looking for a specific variety, be BRIEF and UNIQUE:
enter powis (instead of Artemesia 'Powis Castle', or enter spartan
(instead of Juniper chinensis 'Spartan'). Your entry must
fit the database entry EXACTLY (but NOT completely), so search
ONLY for what you are looking for to avoid discrepancies with what
is in the database. The search tool will look for ONLY and
EXACTLY for what you have entered, so keep your entry to the bare
ESSENTIAL. You can always look (and/or copy-paste) at
the full variety names on the Varieties page to see full names as
they appear in the database. Alternatively, you can look for
ALL Artemesia by entering artemesia or all juniper by entering
juniperus. Also, visit the Searching - Search Tips page.
Abbreviations- Where space allows, full words are used. Otherwise the following is used-
white=wht, black=blk, yellow=ylw, purple=prp, orange=org, salmon=slm, pink=pnk,
aquatic=aqt, wetland/bog=wet, xeriscape (dry conditions)-xrc, clump=clp, multistem=mlt
Deference is given to widely acknowledged and published sources (Dirr, Armitage, etc), although when not available from these sources, growers and other listed sources are used. Conflicting details and information about plants do occur as a result.
Some names may be separated or joined (Bluebird versus Blue Bird)
Press your F11 key for full screen view, press F11 again to return to normal.
Enter what is BRIEFest- and UNIQUE (Moudry, Lynwood etc.) for specific results, OR BRIEFest and GENERAL term (oak, quercus, grass etc.) for broad results. Revise, expand or narrow your search depending on results obtained versus desired.
Empty results? Check spelling variations, spacing or use another (briefest and unique) part of the name. Or try a broader term, then focus in, based on what you see from from those results. Whatever you enter must exactly match with what is in the database, so be brief and try different versions/parts of the name to get a result. Therefore, the less you enter = the more chances to get some match.

Then if you like, from those results, refine or expand your search by entering more specific or more general word/letters to search again, then sort those results.
